Audience Member This movie has the three E's of entertainment. One of Richard Pryor's best works. Do not listen to the haters this is a great movie to watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member exelent movie hillarious and serious richard pryor outstanding Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member pryor is the fuel that makes this one go. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Black comedy about an American POW coming home from Vietnam. Sorry, but seeing a war veteran returning to find his wife leaving him, the army screwing him, and his mother having a stroke, and him turning to armed robbery just isn't funny. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Flawed but rich and interesting with a fine performance by Richard Pryor. The ending doesn't work but there are some excellent moments throughout. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member If you are a Richard Pryor fan, you will very likely enjoy it. If not, you probably won?t. The movie hinges it?s success on Pryor?s brand of humor. Sometimes the mix of drama and comedy is uncomfortable to watch. It tries to be more than just a mindless comedy, but it just doesn?t quite gel. There are good moments, just not enough of them. Dwight Brown Sepia Richard Pryor rises above the dull om screenplay, giving an arresting and ironic performance that reaffirms his talents as a dramatic actor. Aug 10, 2022 Full Review Yardena Arar Associated Press It may not sound like much of a howler, but with Pryor's talent and Michael Pressman's able directing, there are plenty of laughs and some touching moments as well --most of them in the first half. Oct 23, 2018 Full Review Bruce McCabe Boston Globe There aren't enough good Richard Pryor bits in Some Kind of Hero which means that Pryor still isn't being used to his best advantage by Hollywood. Apr 27, 2018 Full Review Richard Freedman Newhouse News Service Richard Pryor is not only an inspired comedian, but such a fine all-around actor that it's a pity he can't find better material than Some Kind of Hero, which Is every kind of flop. Oct 17, 2019 Full Review Bernard Drew Gannett News Service An embarrassingly bad concoction. Sep 20, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews
