Kevin Maher Times (UK) An ambitious narrative gamble lies at the heart of this French-language drama from the director Cédric Klapisch. Rated: 4/5 Nov 18, 2019 Full Review Cath Clarke Guardian Much like the process of psychotherapy itself, patience is required for results while watching this modestly entertaining slow-burn Parisian romance from Cédric Klapisch, who pulls off a neat trick by bumping the meet-cute to the end of the film. Rated: 3/5 Nov 14, 2019 Full Review Paula Farmer culturevulture.net This romantic drama/comedy of two lonely people who live so close, but never quite meet is as simple and sweet as it is clever and sad. Jun 11, 2020 Full Review Marshall Shaffer Vague Visages Klapisch's rejoinder depicts the tragic irony staring down today's young people: the world is at our fingertips, but genuine connection always feels just out of reach. May 2, 2020 Full Review Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat Spirituality & Practice An enchanting French romantic drama about synchronicity. Rated: 4.5/5 Apr 28, 2020 Full Review Lisa Trifone Third Coast Review Through smartly placed cuts and clever conventions in the plot, we understand just how connected Rémy and Mélanie really are. Audience Member Good love story. Cross between “Love Story” and “Sleepless in Seattle”. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/06/24 Full Review brent m How refreshing it is to see an intelligent romantic comedy that entertains and enlightens while successfully breaking all the rules of the genre. The latest offering from French director Cedric Klapisch serves up a warm, funny, smartly written tale that presents fresh, realistic insights on romance without ever becoming schmaltzy or saccharinely sentimental. Leads Francois Civil and Ana Girardot turn in fine, exceedingly natural performances that are totally believable and never stretch credibility. And then there's the cinematography, which shows off the beauty of the French Alps and aspects of Paris probably never seen by outsiders. The film takes viewers on quite an emotional journey on its way to its climax, but the trip is well worth it, providing the basis for a joyful and satisfying conclusion. This is a truly terrific film -- don't miss it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A total masterpiece. Not to be missed. Great acting and fantastic story. I saw it at the Lincoln Center French Film Festival. Moving, smart and utterly romantic. Prepare to gasp. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews
