Robert M I thought it was well done. Not slapstick. All the actors did a great job.. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/21/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie is pure gold. It is one of the last "modern" classic westerns where the heroes never die. The plot is laid out early in the first 8 minutes. The only movies that I can compare this movie is "Cowboys and Aliens" and "My Name Is Nobody" because of the comedy that is interwoven with the plot. If you like Westerns, then this is one that you won't regret watching. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review SICKS6SIX I like westerns but don't like comedies as a rule because not many people are funny, Peter Sellers, Cooke & Moore and the likes of are now long gone, but this film morphs the west and comedy well, it is a farce of a film with some big names, it's in the mould of aeroplane, a good way to spend nearly 2 hours of any day, it's on YouTube, it's in colour and widescreen so no letterbox image to annoy you, the dialogue is so ham cheese & bread rolls were handed out at cinemas while on general release but all the actors deliver their lines with complete professionalism and never snigger, well almost never, there must be a lot of out-takes on the editing room floor from this film, There's a job from the past, cleaning up spliced celluloids from the editing room floor since everything was digitized, I score this film a good 78% It is better than Disney's Pistol but not as good as the first three terminator films, the other dozen or so terminator films are not as good as this film IMO (In My Opinion) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/26/22 Full Review Audience Member Good movie, love Dean Martin. Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times I haven't seen a Dean Martin movie since How to Save A Marriage and Ruin Your Life where his talent was really used. Rated: 2/4 Oct 31, 2018 Full Review Vincent Canby New York Times Difficult to dislike even though it's not really very good. Oct 31, 2018 Full Review Tom Charity Time Out One gruesome symptom of the Death of the Western was the 'comedy Western', a messy, confused genre that flourished briefly... Occasionally, the genre produced the odd bizarre gem, but this was one of the less honourable efforts. Oct 31, 2018 Full Review Tony Mastroianni Cleveland Press As movies go Something Big just isn't. Even a good, small western would be welcome about now but Something Big is a comedy western that strains for laughs and is extremely short on action. Oct 31, 2018 Full Review Tony Sloman Radio Times Dean Martin enjoys his post-Matt Helm stardom by offering such a perilously lazy performance against veteran stalwarts Brian Keith and Ben Johnson, that you just want to shut your eyes and nod off. Rated: 1/5 Oct 31, 2018 Full Review TV Guide Staff TV Guide The story ends with the predictable shootout. Rated: 2.5/5 Oct 31, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews
