      Critics Consensus

In spite of solid performances from Kate Hudson and John Krasinski, Something Borrowed is an unpleasant misfire that lives down to its title.

Daniel F Wow, I've never watched such a bore fest with so many unlikable characters other than Ethan. Predictable at every turn and the script is so terrible it leaves a sour taste in your throat. Footnote- if someone cheats with you while they're with someone else it's extremely likely they'd do similar to you. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/20/24 Full Review Cilla R I really enjoyed this movie because it didn't follow the normal Romcom formula and the acting was cute. Good to have something fun and and unpredictable even though it's not a critics darling. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/18/23 Full Review jeremy b Absolutely wretched movie. I couldn't warm up to pretty much any of the characters. They come across as a bunch of entitled narcissists. You wonder why Rachel is friends with Darcy. You wonder why Dex is marrying Darcy. The only scene which didn't leave me cold was the one with Dex at home with his mom and dad. Otherwise, Dex's inability to be honest to Darcy and Rachel lost me halfway through the movie. At some point, Rachel should've just said, "you know what? If this is what you're like before we ever got married, our marriage isn't going to go very well." It would've made more sense to me if Rachel ended up with Ethan (even though he should've fessed up sooner). Why make a movie with so many unlikeable characters? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/24 Full Review Sherry W I thought this was a wonderful movie! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/12/23 Full Review Effort A Rom-cringe. Wow. Just absolutely soulless. Don't watch this movie if you value your time, your relationships with people, or if you are a fan of any of these actors. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Jamey M Love the movie. Ginnifer Goodwin is fantastic! Kate Hudson's acting as Darcy is awful. The book is even better with the illicit romance between Rachel and Dex.
