Son of the White Mare, like all fables, is about the oldest and most primary human urges, creation and destruction, and Jankovics manifests that endless cosmic cycle as his own animated dreamscape in this, one of the absolute pinnacles of the medium.

I adore this movie and pray it will someday be available on Bluray or DVD in the states. It is an artistic trip through mythology with grandeur and humor that feels still modern and experimental while at the same time ancient from another time. This may not be a general audience film. It is an artistic reimagining of a pre-Norse mythology that lands somewhere between a big budget Samurai Jack episode with an Allegro Non Troppo vibe with a dash of Fantasia grandeur.
