Dr. Charles Pommer (Paul Frees) is a scientist researching extraterrestrial life. When a space probe returns covered in fungus, Pommer throws himself into researching it, only to discover that this substance -- which he names "Blood Rust" -- is deadly when in comes into contact with humans. After Pommer dies from exposure to Blood Rust, a pair of government agents (Bill Williams, Robert Ellis) must hunt down Pommer's former lover, Laura (Lyn Thomas), who is unwittingly spreading the pathogen.

Blobbo X Novelty value here! Once ubiquitous Paul Frees is doomed scientist, Moe Howard plays cab driver and background music reused years later on Sea Hunt and other early tv shows. Also is early appearance of distant-cousin Blob!
