I watched the cartoon. You can tell they were going for the cartoon look, these people made the Matrix. It doesn’t look cheaply made.. great shots, effects, great racing and cuts/editing. If you don’t get its SUPPOSED to be a true live action cartoon, cheesy and colorful, then you may not enjoy it. I’m watching 20yrs later, surprised the effects are good as something released today. Only Negatives - it can be slow and get off topic sometimes during the story.

I don't like how the whole movie looked like either a Spy Kids movie or a low budget little kids show. And most of the themes and plot points I've seen done better in the Cars movies. I was more invested in Michael Giacchino's score than the movie itself.
