Christina Ricci has been an acclaimed actress since the age of nine. Born in Santa Monica, California in 1980, Ricci was discovered by a theater critic while appearing in a school play at age eight, who recommended she sign with an agent. Ricci would make her film debut soon after, co-starring with Winona Ryder and Cher in the period drama "Mermaids" (1990). Just a year later, she would be cast in what might remain the most iconic role of her career, that of the adorably goth Wednesday Addams in the feature film "The Addams Family" (1991). She would return to the role for the sequel "Addams Family Values" (1993) before moving on to star in other family and tween films of the era, including "Casper" (1995), "Now and Then" (1995), and "Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain" (1995). Ricci would begin transitioning into the realm of art house cinema with acclaimed turns in Ang Lee's "The Ice Storm" (1997) and Vincent Gallo's "Buffalo 66" (1998). In 1999, Ricci found another role in a blockbuster with a subversive edge, co-starring with Johnny Depp in Tim Burton's "Sleepy Hollow" (1999). She would go on to star alongside Charlize Theron in the acclaimed "Monster" (2003) before starring in the controversial "Black Snake Moan" (2006). Ricci transitioned to TV in 2011, starring on the short-lived "Pan Am" (ABC, 2011-12) before taking on the role of infamous acclaimed murderer Lizzie Borden in the TV movie "Lizzie Borden Took an Axe" (Lifetime, 2014). She would return to the role for the mini-series "The Lizzie Borden Chronicles" (Lifetime, 2015), and later took on another historical figure, portraying Zelda Fitzgerald on "Z: The Beginning of Everything" (Amazon, 2015-17). Having found a strong niche, Ricci chose to portray yet another pivotal character from history in 2019 when she starred in the TV movie "Escaping the Madhouse: The Nellie Bly Story" (Lifetime, 2019).
