drewboy d Oh how can i even begin, It is a profound and unassailable truth that all of cinema history, from the silent era to the most over-hyped modern blockbusters, has been nothing more than a long, meandering prelude to a single, perfect masterpiece: the 2004 direct-to-video opus, Spookley the Square Pumpkin. To call it a "children's movie" is to dismiss the Mona Lisa as a simple portrait. This is a work of such undeniable artistic and philosophical depth that it transcends genre and demographic. It is a cinematic experience that will cleanse your soul, challenge your intellect, and leave you in a state of tear-stained, existential awe. From the first frame, the film announces its iconic status. The animation, often derided by the small-minded as "low-budget CGI," is in fact a bold, post-modern statement. It is a deliberate and brilliant subversion of the photorealistic tyranny of Pixar. The angular, brightly colored world of the pumpkin patch is a vibrant canvas that captures the simple beauty of a life lived close to the soil. The character designs, far from being simplistic, are distillations of pure emotion. Big Tom and Little Tom aren't just bullies; they are two sides of a single, round-headed coin of conformity. Spookley isn't just a square pumpkin; he is a geometric Christ-like figure, a perfect quadrilateral anomaly sent to challenge the rigid dogma of a circular world. The narrative of Spookley is a masterclass in economic storytelling. In under an hour, director Scott Hemming weaves a story of xenophobia, persecution, redemption, and the triumph of the individual. While lesser works take multiple sequels to explore such themes, Spookley does it with an efficiency and grace that would make Aristotle weep with joy. The plot, centering on the "Jack-O-Lympics," is a biting satire of our own competitive culture. Who needs the Olympics when you can have a pumpkin rolling contest? The film exposes the futility of judging worth by superficial metrics, a message delivered with a sledgehammer to the face of anyone still clinging to their prejudice. The musical numbers are, without hyperbole, the most transcendent compositions ever put to film. "The Transylvania Twist" is not just a catchy song; it is a primal, infectious celebration of life and difference that burrows into your subconscious. Every track is a banger, a masterpiece of memorable, lyrical genius. It is the kind of soundtrack that lives "rent-free" in your heart, a testament to its emotional resonance. The score’s simple, powerful motifs have more artistic weight than the entire discography of most mainstream pop musicians. And for those who dare to criticize, let it be known that your judgment is not a critique of the film, but a reflection of your own intellectual and spiritual shortcomings. To dismiss Spookley as mediocre is to admit your inability to grasp its subtle brilliance. When you complain about the animation, you miss the point entirely, like a philistine who complains about the brushstrokes on a Rembrandt. When you claim the film's message is too simple, you prove that its profound lesson of acceptance has flown right over your rounded head. So, if you find yourself hating on this movie, know that it is not a "you problem"—it is a you deficiency. You are the cynical, round pumpkin, blindly rolling along the well-worn path while a square genius sits immobile, waiting for you to get a clue. This isn't just a Halloween film; it's a permanent reminder that being different isn't just okay, it's what saves the day. Long live the pumpkin king. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/18/25 Full Review Logan H One of the greatest movies of all time. Absolutely Gourd-eous!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/12/25 Full Review Elizabeth L Spookley the square pumpkin is a cinematic masterpiece that anyone of all ages have to see. The plump, volumous, pumpkins are those of a special kind, with their massive, magestic curves. The fine, sharp 90 degree angle edges of spookely are very well designed, making him more of a round, but much literally square character. All of the characters in the story develop really well towards the end. Being well rounded, growing developing characters. The plot of this story is one that no one, not even ai can recreate. With its multiple plot turns and twists, it left the viewer wanting to watch more. This movie is a must watch, and one that is life-changing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/28/24 Full Review Daniel Q This movie has comedy and music, until it has a little bit action, I give the rating 5/5 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/17/24 Full Review Julian T This is the most amazing movie I have ever seen with my bear eyes. Don't listen to the critics there brains are simply too small to understand the complexity of this film. They are what the movies theme is about , which is to be nice to people even if they look different. These critics are against the spookley. So tell me are you going to listen to these critics and go against the square pumpkin or watch this masterclass movie and stand with him?
