Julia Felsenthal Vogue Ellwood uses archival TV interviews to give some context for why college kids were suddenly magnetically drawn to party on the beach. Dec 14, 2016 Full Review Lara Zarum Flavorwire Despite the film's promisingly cheeky beginning, it quickly settles into a fairly conventional documentary, and bypasses the opportunity to tell a more interesting and culturally relevant story about spring break. david f A good documentary about the evolution of Spring Break in Florida, starting after WWII and continuing up into the era of MTV. It was fascinating to learn about all the nuances of Ivy League-influenced Fort Lauderdale Spring Break vs. the more downmarket and rough-around-the-edges Daytona Beach. Also interesting how it went from being sponsored by tobacco and beer companies to being sponsored by MTV. And the way that towns in Florida set out to attract Spring Breakers only to turn on them when they show up in huge numbers causing chaos and drunken destruction was quite ironic. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This documentary on the history of the spring break phenomenon was really neat and fun to watch. I learned a lot of stuff that I never really knew about spring break happenings in Florida. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member good historical documentary Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member I wanted more from the non-cautionary side of the MTV spring breaks. I like the topic since MTV spring break was part of my summer viewing as an adolescent. I have caught this on HBO a few times and some parts of this documentary have stuck with me "19 of the 20 jumpers would make it to the pool". I also can relate it to some other events in my life on how they start slowly shutting them down when it gets fun or should I say a nuisance for the residents. I still hope they do a more reminiscent documentary about the short phenomenon of the MTV spring break years but this will do for now.
