Rebecca Olson Bitch Media Spy is a smart and uplifting film - one that's finally worthy of Melissa McCarthy's comedic genius. Jan 28, 2021 Full Review Max Weiss Baltimore Magazine Spy is many things: A clever spoof. A chance for Melissa McCarthy and her co-stars to strut their comedic chops. An international romp. It's also a pretty darn engaging spy film. It's about a woman leaning in and finding her inner Bond. Rated: 3/4 Jun 10, 2016 Full Review Jason Bailey Flavorwire At its core, this action-packed, globe-trotting, gender-switched Bond spoof is about lookism. May 28, 2016 Full Review Vadim Rizov Filmmaker Magazine By those very meager standards, Spy will just about do the job: it looks like someone’s in control, it’s not gratuitously offensive towards the marginalized, it has the guts to get violent and get an unexpected laugh via a jolt... Jan 23, 2023 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies If you want something fresh, intelligent, and outside of the modern norm good luck finding it here. Rated: 1.5/5 Aug 25, 2022 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Even though the R-rated movie overstays its welcome by about a half-hour, preventing itself from becoming a sharp, breezy lark, it’s a James Bond parody worth a casual viewing. Jafar H I’ve fairly enjoyed the movie, the only thing they could’ve done better was Jason Statham’s role, I think he just isn’t the best comedy actor, I love ALL of his movies but this one let down a bit, other than that it was a good enjoyable movie!! Definitely worth a watch! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/15/24 Full Review Louis S Melissa McCarthy and Miranda Hart in the same movie! Wow I must be dreaming! Easily two of the best actresses, and comedians ever, and the star in probably the best comedy of the 2010s. This movie is literally perfect! Best film I’ve watched this year and an easy 5 stars Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/14/24 Full Review Requiem L I'm yawning writing this review. Who the hell keeps casting Melissa McCarthy in everything? She is painfully unfunny. Paul Feig is talentless who coasts by on other people's work and takes the credit for it. I got 48 minutes in to it and thought it had been long enough and should be finished. Imagine my expressively long sigh when I noticed there was still a whole hour and ten minutes remaining. Comedies, even ones that aren't funny should never exceed the 90 minute mark. Or you risk the burnout of your audience. When they're actually laughing. So I guess there's no danger of that with this film. Just sheer tedium from start to finish. A wannabe American version of James Bond complete with artistic bond theme and the CIAs version of Q-branch. Who green lit this? Why is it rated so high on this site? A comedy film HAS to make you laugh, this doesn't so it fails as a comedy. A spy film should be intriguing, this isn't at any point so it fails as a spy film. Someone's payday got laundered for tax reasons releasing this trash. Never watch Melissa unfunny, never catch a Paul Hack Feig flick. Utterly droll, dreadful and deadly boredom-wise. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/14/24 Full Review Clive E This is good. Funny throughout and cleverly done. Melissa McCarthy is great as are all the cast. Rose Byrne and Jason Statham in particular. Daft and laugh out loud . Will watch it over and over Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/13/24 Full Review Gil O It definitely is one of the best comedy movies made in the last decade. Melissa McCarthy and Paul Feig bring the best out of each other. Most of the jokes were being written in the spot and that just works. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/21/24 Full Review Tony P A very well written movie with great comedy bit's between all the main characters, and is one of Melissa McCarthy's best movies I think!
