Spy is a smart and uplifting film - one that's finally worthy of Melissa McCarthy's comedic genius. Go to Full Review

Spy is many things: A clever spoof. A chance for Melissa McCarthy and her co-stars to strut their comedic chops. An international romp. It's also a pretty darn engaging spy film. It's about a woman leaning in and finding her inner Bond. Go to Full Review

At its core, this action-packed, globe-trotting, gender-switched Bond spoof is about lookism. Go to Full Review

It’s hilarious in the loosest, most playful way possible, like the whole cast were working behind the camera and taking their time off in front of it. Go to Full Review

"Spy" feels like one of those movies that is funny the first time and lasts for that one dose, but won't be something you'll revisit and likely something you'll regret you really liked five or ten years down the road. Go to Full Review
Vadim Rizov Filmmaker Magazine 01/23/2023
By those very meager standards, Spy will just about do the job: it looks like someone’s in control, it’s not gratuitously offensive towards the marginalized, it has the guts to get violent and get an unexpected laugh via a jolt... Go to Full Review

Umbra S @RT30386914 4d I am surprised to see this movie on an essential comedy movie list... The jokes were corny and forced most of the time. Nearly every joke is a terrible character insult about someone's appearance or intelligence. There were so many double crosses I don't know how any character could possibly trust anyone on screen at anytime. Looking at other peoples reviews saying this is smart has me questioning if we watched even remotely the same movie. One could say "Its a spoof movie so all the double crosses are there on purpose to highlight that action spy movies always have obvious double crosses." When it happens ever 5 minutes the joke loses its humor. I dont believe any of the characters, they are all to dumb. See more KarthiK P. @madkarthi 4d It is all about fun and fun. I mean I enjoyed each and every second while watching it. Whenever Jason Statham appeared on screen I literally laughed so hard. I don't even know how I laughed so hard. He is fantastic. Those absurd dialogues he says make me laugh so much. At the end when he appears and gets his jacket stuck in the door like that. That is just amazing. I laughed out loud. The end of the movie is also so much crazy. Not only him. Melissa McCarthy is just amazing. She holds the entire movie with her amazing acting. Miranda it is also great. That guy who plays the Sergio De Luca character is funny. Everything is just amazing. I would love to rewatch this film again. It is so much fun and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love that Skyfall type poster style and all the James Bond type parody stuff. Everything is just amazing. See more Michael C @Coxmjc23 May 17 One of my all time favorites!!! Cast's chemistry is one of a kind. See more Darin S @RT34289594 Apr 16 Shockingly way better than I was expecting it to be. I'm already a McCarthy and Statham fan, but literally every scene in this movie is either funny or exciting to watch. See more Read all reviews
