      Critics Consensus

St. Agatha makes admittedly uneven use of its story's well-worn religious tropes, but the overall effect may still be just chilling enough for horror fans.

Hugo S A pregnant woman takes refugee in a convent ran by sadistic nuns. She is forced to fight for her own survival when she starts uncovering the nuns' dark secrets. A religious horror movie that relies on a simplistic plot: nuns committing demonic acts against innocent young women. Unoriginal! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/25/23 Full Review sarah a An amateur horror film. Too disgusting in places for my taste, but horror films are meant to provoke a reaction, and it certainly did! This isn't a jumpy film, but does make you cringe. I have been left feeling disappointed and robbed of a thrilling horror. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Talk about a twisted movie. I have a sensitive stomach and this movie made me gag a couple times. You run to these people who you think are religous and can help you turn your life around. But you realize it's all an act and these people make your life a living hell. What torture these girls go through. I overall thought this was a good movie. Very good but sick Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a good movie but very gory, however, the ending of the movie leaves us wanting more Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member I think it's unoriginal plot makes it easy to forget (and hard to love) but the ending is pretty satisfying! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member As an avid horror fan, how is this movie on Netflix and not at the absolute bottom of the barrel? Dear god. Horrible plot from start to finish. I'm angry at myself that I sat through that. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Noel Murray Los Angeles Times This is a bold, broad portrait of a secret society, left alone by the government to rule their own roost by fear. Feb 8, 2019 Full Review Sheila O'Malley RogerEbert.com St. Agatha may take too long to get going, but once the film is up and running it's perverse, overheated fun. Rated: 3/4 Feb 8, 2019 Full Review Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter St. Agatha is less overtly gory and supernatural-oriented than most efforts of its ilk, but it provides plenty of chilling, if slow-moving atmospherics and strong performances. Feb 6, 2019 Full Review Emilie Black Cinema Crazed The film as a whole ends up feeling a bit long and this may lose some people but the ending is absolutely worth sticking around as well as the evolution of Sabrina Kern as Mary from her meek start to the end where she changes in the ways she needs. Rated: 3.5 Apr 4, 2020 Full Review Sarah Musnicky Nightmarish Conjurings I love how much it made me think. And, ultimately, that is what movies should do. Sep 25, 2019 Full Review Tracy Allen PopHorror.com ... Bousman didn't know what he wanted, so he threw a bunch of stuff at the wall to see what stuck.
