Frans B @FransB Jan 8 Great honest-to-goodness story. Well written, great storyline and beautifully brought to screen by Martin Ritt. Jane Fonda and Robert de Niro shines in character, well, the whole cast convinces in character. Good cinematography and visually appealing. If nothing else, it made me think of how it must be in his shoes (nobody here cares about that, obviously) - we have a lot to be thankful for, in fact, everything. I turned it off. Note to actors, you may have a political opinion, but keep it to yourself. The general public doesn’t care what you think.! DeNiro is totally illiterate, somehow he finds his way when he is on his bike, but otherwise he is totally lost. He remembers the latin name of every tree, but not what a Tylenol bottle looks like. He lives in a garage and puts a suit and tie to go to the public library. Fonda is a widow, a factory worker, becomes a young grandmother and has not a single wrinkle, probably thanks to the Beverly Hills dermatologist that she visits twice a year. She looks like she has a BMI of 20 and she avoids to step on a scale and find out that she gained another 0.25 pounds. BTW on Amazon this movie has 4.5 stars on 323 ratings! See more Rosemarie K 03/09/2024 I recently watched through Prime. Actually enjoyed it on a lazy Saturday afternoon. I had never heard of it before. Nothing earth shattering, just a sweet movie about two people who help each other out and slowly find romance. It made me smile and feel good about the world.
