David Bianculli NPR It's enjoyable enough and fits nicely into the "Star Trek" canon. And Michelle Yeoh... never fails to entertain. Feb 21, 2025 Full Review Angelica Jade Bastién New York Magazine/Vulture It is sloppy, misguided, and frankly rote, overstuffed with concepts that it only superficially explores. Feb 7, 2025 Full Review J. Bryan Lowder Slate While it’s now unavoidably and unfortunately canon, let’s hope Section 31 was just a stumble on the way to better and bolder things. If this is what the Federation’s underbelly really looks like, I’d rather it stayed in the dark. Jan 26, 2025 Full Review Louis Skye (Ronita Roy Mohan) Stereo Geeks (Podcast) I came here to watch Michelle Yeoh kick butt, and kick butt, she did. So, I got my money’s worth. I love Georgiou, the good and the bad versions, so being able to see her again was a delight. Aug 9, 2025 Full Review Luke Y. Thompson Mortal Cinema (Substack) As pretty as the visuals are, the rest of it's fairly thin, but the fact that it's all about Michelle Yeoh makes it work. Mar 18, 2025 Full Review Lee Zumpe Tampa Bay Newspapers Its failings are particularly frustrating given the potential of having Georgiou — an interesting, complex character portrayed by the wonderful Yeoh — star in her own series. Keith J Poor in the extreme! Section 31 was a chance to expand upon the Star Trek universe lore, instead, it was just a third rate action movie with so many plot holes, some large enough to fly a Borg Cube through, that in the end, the film made little to no sense at all! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/26/25 Full Review Albert B and this.. is a compliment to the show Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/22/25 Full Review Hego D. This could’ve been a great movie. Instead it’s absolute drivel like all the rest of the new Star Trek content. The opening narration alone made me want to turn it off. Michelle Yeoh is the only reason I watched the entire thing. Sadly I’ve lost a lot of respect for her after seeing this, but I guess if they’re just burning cash over at Paramount, why not sign up?🤔🤷‍♂️ Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/16/25 Full Review D.A. P Star Trek Section 31 just shows what creator Gene Roddenberry never intended for the Star Trek universe. This movie is just awful. It shows distasteful aspects of the Federation- which is supposed to stand for everything good and instead this movie goes to show everything wrong. As a Trek fan and collector- I can tell you that I will not watch this movie because of its dark aura and showing a negative side of something that is really supposed to be great and entertaining about being a Star Trek fan. 0.5 out of 5 stars- throw this one into the trash. Trek fans- AVOID this one. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/14/25 Full Review Jeff D I’m a HUGE Star Trek fan. I love all things Star Trek. I also have bad taste and will watch pretty much anything, and have seen pretty much everything. I tried watching this movie twice. It’s awful. Totally unwatchable. Easily one of the worst movies ever made. Painfully bad, or at least the first 20 minutes are.. god love you if you can get further than that. Omg, click on Olatunde Osunsanmi. His best movie has a 44% and his worst is only 6%. The audience scores are even worse. Dude needs to find a new career, seriously. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/12/25 Full Review Bert G Tried it twice and stopped twice, its that bad. The script is an insult to Michelle. A great concept is really slaughtered by the script writers, Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/30/25 Full Review Read all reviews
