Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald Yes, it features Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford, but nobody who saw this kitschy TV abomination back in 1978 was surprised that George Lucas wanted it erased from human memory. Mar 25, 2020 Full Review Gail Williams The Hollywood Reporter If the prospect of a two-hour Star Wars Holiday Special conjured up visions of "May the force be with you" repeated ad nauseam in your head, this show on CBS was a welcome surprise. Oct 3, 2015 Full Review Daniel Kraus Salon.com Yes, it was that unprecedented. Yes, it was that bad. Aug 13, 2008 Full Review Carson Timar ButteredPopcorn A complete miscalculation on what will interest and entertain the consumer, there isn't a single reason why one should give the film the time of day and truly it does deserve to be lost how it has been. Rated: F Aug 28, 2022 Full Review Alan French Sunshine State Cineplex You will curse god for this show's mere existence. Rated: .5/4 Dec 25, 2019 Full Review Shaun Munro Flickering Myth The Star Wars Holiday Special is a work of such baffling insanity that every Star Wars fan deserves to watch it once - but probably only once. Ash P Man, everything has to have a Christmas special, don't they? Or rather, anything has to have an episode or a movie that involves a holiday. In which case, how about something called Life Day for the Wookies? Yeah, this was one of the earliest of bad projects that folks have said throughout the internet when it comes to anything in the Star Wars franchise. They were right. This was bad. However, it didn't make me mad at all. No. It was more boring. I give it credit that they wanted to involve Chewbacca's family. If only I could understand what they were saying and add subtitles because I could only understand ten percent of what they were saying through body gestures. I love wookiees but hearing them making their native calls throughout ten minutes straight was starting to rub me the wrong way, sadly. There were some uncanny appearances with Han Solo, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker despite their good acting. Even just one scene with Darth Vader and that was pointless. You do have Art Carney in this, which was an okay appearance just for this holiday special. The costumes are pretty mixed for me, which they worked while in some cases, seeing some of their chompers left unimpressed. You have this one cooking channel involving this person wearing one of the most ridiculous costumes while having a funny moment with two extra arms when showing the missus on how to make a special dish for the family. Then you have papaw wookiee watching this virtual reality, which is one of the most trippiest moments ever. I don't blame him for wanting a taste of black pudding, though. I give it credit that it wants to be something, yet it ended up being a dud with a nice song at the end which the actors did admit through some interviews that they would rather do something else than doing another holiday special. I don't blame them, really. I understand why folks hated this. I didn't enjoy it because it was just boring since I had to find this on YouTube as it isn't on Disney Plus, oddly. But I digress. I'm giving this holiday special two papaw wookiee enjoying some black pudding on virtual reality out of ten. 2/10. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/21/25 Full Review ahsen k Even if it was used By Vader to torture Han in Cloud City , this was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the BOOK of Boba fett. Obi Wan and The Acolyte. These tnree Disney shows were so bad I had to add two stars more for the Holiday special to give a clarity and scale. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/03/25 Full Review Артур М Sure It's better than acolyte, but it's still is terrible and worse than sequels, go watch it yourself, it's free on youtube. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/18/25 Full Review Lord V This is what Vader forced Han to watch while torturing him in the empire strikes back. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/10/24 Full Review Will G A million times better than The Acolyte. I will never watch The Acolyte again but I would watch this a hundred times over watching The Acolyte again once. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/21/24 Full Review Richard C After watching Star Wars the Acolyte I appreciate this more now! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/19/24 Full Review Read all reviews
