The obvious fun that comes from watching the latest remake of The Stepfather comes from seeing Taye Diggs get progressively more unleashed as the film goes on. Go to Full Review

Weak writing and lifeless performances leave Taye Diggs' Stepfather struggling to deliver anything beyond a few unintended laughs. Go to Full Review

Culpa R @Culpa774 Jul 1 Oddly,I found myself hoping Taye would hurry up and kill Tamar……her acting was horrible! See more Sprite L @RT83019133 Jun 29 This film was a hot mess. What was meant to be a psychological thriller turned out to be everything but. Leon, a man who, as stated by his longtime therapist in the film, suffers from hallucinations due to childhood trauma. Not bipolar disorder, not schizophrenia, or even PTSD—just plain old hallucinations. See more Michael R @Michael2003 Jun 28 A weak remake that misses what made the original work. Taye Diggs is solid, but the characters behave so unrealistically that the drama falls apart. Ironically, the youngest daughter is the only one acting like an actual person. See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Jun 24 Stepfather is not a bad thriller, but it never fully connected with me the way I expected. From the start, I kept waiting for the story to become more gripping, but it often felt like it was holding back instead of fully committing to its darker themes. The film is watchable, but it lacks the intensity and atmosphere needed to make it truly memorable. The main performance by Tamar Braxton stood out, but not always in a positive way. Her character often felt excessively angry, even in moments where that emotion did not seem justified. Because of that, the emotional range of the character felt limited, which made it harder to fully invest in her journey. The movie also relies too heavily on flashbacks, which slows the pacing and makes the story feel repetitive at times. Instead of building tension smoothly, it keeps interrupting itself. The final portion of the film is where things finally pick up, delivering more suspense and horror than the rest of the movie combined. Unfortunately See more Johnny G @RT52345864 Jun 23 I completely disagree with the criticism that Taye Diggs failed to deliver in the Stepfather remake. On the contrary, this is one of his strongest performances in years. I thoroughly enjoyed it—it is a must-see!
