Janet N Loved this indie neo-noir with an immigrant in the lead. That's more rare than one would expect, especially in the suspense/mystery genre. She's a struggling artist, far from her homeland but wanting to advance her career in America. Stockade has a weirdness in that David Lynch kind of way and the atmosphere is full of Polanski-like creepiness (I'm referring to Polanski's earlier films, not his personal failings). The story is streamlined yet complex and so is this film's style. The three main actors do a great job: Sarah Bitar, Guy de Lancey, and Bahar Beihaghi, but the supporting characters all add their own spice to the proceedings. The film's score also moves things along in a wonderfully lyrical way. In general, Stockade is a well-made movie that kept my interest until the end, and it left me wanting more.
