Audience Member Have seen better but try it. You might like it James Welch, Henderson, Arkansas August 24, 2023. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/25/23 Full Review steve d Not an easy watch but an interesting one. Ronan is fantastic. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review farah r The only good reason to watch this painstakingly slow and boring drama is Saoirse Ronan's impressive performance. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member My interest was held only by the focused performance of gifted actress Saoirse Ronan. Suffers from meandering direction of a work that may have played better on the stage. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member The only good thing about this film is Saoirse. The other characters are either underused or freaks (like Leanne's "mother" Marcy). Marcy was in fact one of the most annoying characters in any film. Irrational, cruel, unstable and with a really whiney voice. I don't get the point of the film really, the mentally ill one is the mother, not the daughter. David Rooney Hollywood Reporter Strong performances from Saoirse Ronan and Cynthia Nixon keep Stockholm, Pennsylvania intense and absorbing, but Nicole Beckwith's initial impulse to tell her confinement story as a stage play feels as if it might have been a sounder choice. Jan 24, 2015 Full Review Brian Moylan Guardian With a bit more maturity and confidence in her vision, Beckwith is sure to come up with something that's a knockout all the way through. Rated: 3/5 Jan 24, 2015 Full Review Tim Grierson Screen International A well-meaning disappointment, striving to say something about family and motherhood but mishandling the execution. Jan 24, 2015 Full Review Dan Mecca The Film Stage A provocative subject deserves a provocative platform. And while Stockholm, Pennsylvania is certainly provocative, it could stand to be a bit smarter. Rated: C- Feb 25, 2016 Full Review Gregory Ellwood HitFix The director originally conceived of "Stockholm" as a theater piece. Her original instinct may have better served the material. Rated: C Mar 19, 2015 Full Review Eric D. Snider GeekNation Sincere but convoluted... The almost-campy plot mechanisms make it hard to take it very seriously.
