Yeah, this movie was lame.Way overrated by the critics by the way.The movie is a bore.It's melodrama but,not the enjoyable type.The movie telegraphs every point it wants to make and then hammers it home just in case you weren't paying attention.Overwrought and overblown to say the least.It reminded me of a typical Lifetime flick.That bad.Zhou Xun is fine but Jun Wu did little but slouch and smoke cigarettes the entire movie.Still this is some people's idea of fun i suppose...

This movie was brilliant ! I had it in my que on Netflix and had bypassed it a few times ... I am usually drawn to foreign films and this was more then I expected ! I definitely have to add this lil gem to my collection of films. If I had to grade this movie it gets an A I LOVE IT AND WILL WATCH IT AGAIN TONIGHT!

This movie shows us the life of peasant people in a Chinese city but it could happen in any other city's poor and underground neighborhood. The story is narrated by Yanni who is a girl that was raised by her grandmother and her aunt in an extreme affection-less world that shaped her low self-stime. Finally, she had the chance for a new life, and she went to college but since the first day she gets involved with a stranger, Muyu, who seems to care about her but he doesn't care about his wife and child. So, he abandons them to be with Yanni who is pregnant. Worth watching!
