      william d Apparently, in Naruse's early films, he felt the best way to impart tragedy is to have someone get into an accident and end up in the hospital. it happened in Flunky, Work Hard! and in Every Night Dreams. Here, it actually happens twice. The weak story is also hampered by the terrible acting of the lead female protagonist Setsuko Shinobu.
