Owen Gleiberman Entertainment Weekly Rated: B+ Sep 7, 2011 Full Review Dave Kehr New York Times Far from sleek and polished, in the manner of HBO, but it's much the better for it. Ms. Morley leaves in her contradictions and loose ends, where a more 'professional' approach to this material would probably try to obscure them behind slick graphics. Audience Member Enjoyable 90's doco with a really sad ending for two of the ladies. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member (**): Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member It is amazing how life will always come full circle when you least expect it. I watched this movie on Netflix streaming about the life of dancers at regular and lower end clubs in the NY/NJ area in the late 90s by the looks of things. The sound quality was pretty bad, but the cinematography was 100% 90s art house so that was expected. I'm not quite sure what her point was with the film, but it was a good POV into the complex feelings dancers have (I assume). The one things that caught my attention was the story of the missing woman. Years and years ago I bought the movie Red Light: Inside the Sex Industry, which really turned my whole world upside down and started my interest in working with and counseling sex workers. One of the dancers in the film worked on the book and disappeared after it came out. The book shined a bright light on sex trafficking long before the general public knew about America's dirty little secret. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Yes, this is a documentary about stripping http://www.darkesthourfilms.com/2010/10/stripped-2001.html Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Another interesting documentary that explores the sex industry and the women that work in it. The production and post production were definitely in need of some help. The quality was pretty bad. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member A damn self-indulgent documentary trying to follow a handful of women in their stripping career. Boobs, sure. But thats about it. Wawawa; I was shy, I was a dork, I wore glasses, now Im empowered because greasy men grovel at me. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews
