So called "critics" don't know what's good. And what makes their opinion the standard? This film has one of the best lines in any film. It's from the radio when he gets in the car to go to work. I can't stop laughing every time I hear it.

Maybe a lot of the people leaving bad reviews didn't grow up in that era. It's a classic, light hearted 80s comedy with no frills, it's funny and a little cheesy like every comedy out of the 80s

It follows the same template as "National Lampoon's Vacation", the trip from hell, where everything possible and impossible to go wrong happens. Honestly I don't see what this seems to be getting hate? John Candy is great, the plot is basic but works. There's nothing that I can see the overly sensitive crowd would be needlessly offended by. True there are character issues and the villain is like of one-note, that note is snob asshole. But as a whole, it works and it very good. Way better than you might hear.
