Mark Kermode Observer (UK) Co-writer and star Brett Goldstein holds it all together very amiably, while Catherine Tate, Natalia Tena and Ruth Sheen provide solidly entertaining support. Rated: 3/5 Oct 18, 2015 Full Review Kevin Maher Times (UK) [A] charmingly inventive mockumentary. Rated: 4/5 Oct 15, 2015 Full Review Chris Hewitt (UK) Empire Magazine Goldstein is enormously endearing, while Drever milks the mundanity for laughs and unexpected sweetness. Rated: 4/5 Oct 15, 2015 Full Review Scott Nash Three Movie Buffs A charming little superhero film. Rated: 4/4 Nov 2, 2015 Full Review Victoria Luxford Radio Times A light but effective comedy that offers something new in a genre where almost everything has been explored. Rated: 3/5 Oct 15, 2015 Full Review Stefan Pape HeyUGuys Irrespective of the lack of ingenuity within this endeavour, it remains entirely watchable thanks to the affability of our eponymous protagonist. Don L Low budget banger, funny sweet and incredibly romantic. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/24 Full Review B-Dub I found it to be a little surprising. When I decided to watch I expected to in 15 to 20 minutes to lose interest. The 60th anniversary scene was so well done. Yes it was a bit flat at start to provide the baseline of his character. This remind me of most British comedies, I see very slow moving and dry. In the end had great heart. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/07/23 Full Review Christopher N I thought it was a cute movie with an interesting concept. A little quirky but sweet. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/10/23 Full Review Albert W A bit different superhero movie. Enjoyed it. Some funny parts but could have had more. 3.5 stars. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/26/23 Full Review Stuart L A hilarious movie and a quirky take on Superheroes. Goldstein is excellent. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/02/23 Full Review isla s This is a quirky watch - its lightly amusing, in a British, superhero fan, nerdy sort of a way. Suffice to say, its quite a cringe-y watch and some aspects of the film reminded me a little of the show Derek, with the main character being in his own world, so to speak - he's very much socially awkward (something I can relate to). I liked seeing Catherine Tate in it, who plays Bobs boss at the Ministry of Defence. I also liked David Harewood, who plays a TV news anchor. I liked how/that the film pokes fun at the media, 24 hour breaking news etc. It has the look of a sitcom about it, as I say - a low-ish key British sitcom, the kind BBC3 may air. I thought it got funnier towards the end, it had just about won me over. I thought it was reasonably good but the first half of the film I wasn't especially keen on.
