What I Watched Tonight

Whilst not wholly original - the film does lean heavily on its influences - Surrogate is an effective and sometimes excellent low-budget horror movie that blends the supernatural with mystery and thriller aspects. An assured feature debut from Willing.

Doing a lot with very little, Willing demonstrates a knack for deploying horror film chestnuts to great effect – sometimes subtly, sometimes not-so-subtly. Note to the squeamish: brace yourselves for a confronting scene that features blood. Lots of blood.

Surrogate was a suspenseful plot driven story with lots of twists. It kept me on the edge of my seat all night, with a couple of jump scares in-between. I would definitely watch it again as it has kept me thinking about certain aspects of the storyline. Great cast Great film!

Wow! What an awesome thriller! Had me both sinking into my chair in terror and sitting on the edge of my seat in suspense throughout the entire movie! The cast were incredible, in particular the young female lead, Taysha Farrugia, what a talent! This young actor was hauntingly natural, she portrayed her character so well and was terrifyingly cute and creepy all at once! Loved her performance and can't wait to see her in more films! Awesome movie, a must see on the big screen!

I saw Surrogate at an independent cinema in Melbourne, Australia this week. The director attended the screening to introduce the film and met with everyone after to answer any questions which was really interesting. Surrogate was clearly made with lot's of passion, heart and creativity which oozes from the screen (along with a legendary blood effect moment). I look forward to watching it again as some story reveals have really stuck with me.
