Critics Consensus

Borrowing heavily from better films in service of a predictable story, Survivor will struggle to sustain the interest of even the most avid action thriller fans.

Stuffed with endless chase scenes which never seem to generate any actual suspense, the film at least benefits from the presence of its charismatic leads. Go to Full Review

Good call by Emma Thompson, who baled out at the eleventh-hour from this copper-bottomed terrorist-themed stinker. If only the others had her foresight. Go to Full Review

Survivor is the kind of film that relies on characters doing everything in a needlessly complicated way. Go to Full Review

It is slow and unexciting but brightened up by Frances de la Tour as a wheelchair-bound MI5 tech genius: good to see the secret service supporting oldies in the workplace. Go to Full Review

Firmly within the so-bad-it's-alright genre, Survivor is a beast of a simpler time. Brosnan and his moustache are fine, but nothing else really is. Go to Full Review

Glen M @Holdfast27 12h It was a waste of time, but I was too lazy to turn it off. Clearly a low budget movie. Thank God Pierce didn't sing. There were many pieces missing from the continuity of the movie as though the screen play wasn't completed or else there were many film slices left on the editing floor. It was patched together without all the pieces. See more Mr T @Whoopass Jan 3 Absolutely awful.. Lack of any plot.. A 5 year old could have written a more realistic script See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Jan 2 Survivor is an intense but straightforward thriller that leans more on performance than depth. The story follows a woman framed for murder while a government conspiracy closes in, forcing her into survival mode. The pacing is fast, keeping tension high even when the plot feels thin. Milla Jovovich does a solid job carrying the film. She brings strength and credibility to the role, holding the story together through sheer presence. Dylan McDermott also delivers a strong performance, grounding his character well. Pierce Brosnan as the villain is an unexpected highlight, flipping his heroic image into something ruthless. Where Survivor struggles is its lack of depth. The story feels rushed, skipping chances to build stronger emotional stakes or a more layered narrative. Several plot points feel underdeveloped, leaving the film incomplete. Still, Survivor works as a one-time watch. It’s entertaining, easy to follow, and driven by capable performances, even if it’s ultimately forgettable See more DaNick S @DaNick Jan 1 If you love a movie where an American Hero thwarts the plans of a terrorist like in Die Hard, then you'll probably like this one too. Not as much action & suspense but still not as bad as the critics found. Lost one star for a couple of missed or forgotten characters that made me question, Hey! What about... Maybe they just ran out of time. In any case, thought it was worth watching. Just watched it on New Years eve! See more Keith D @SirKeithD Dec 30 It's really too bad because there are elements of this film that, had it been written a little more imaginatively, and realistically, could have made for an enjoyable action thriller. The cast wasn't bad, the direction was adequate but the plot and storyline was old and every section contrived in simply unbelievable ways. Just impossible to suspend disbelief, which matters in these kinds of films. See more Mondo C @Kangaray Aug 4 I’m not sure why this movie scored so badly. It was a little drawn out, but well acted. The usual story line….everyone turns so quickly against the hero…and she doesn’t even get an apology at the end! There’s no hope for any of us if this sort of senior distrust is based on real events lol See more Read all reviews
