Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed When it's not touting B movie stars like Loken and Robert Patrick, it does a damn fine job as an action film and a crime thriller... Apr 5, 2011 Full Review R.L. Shaffer IGN DVD Hardly fresh or original, but S.W.A.T.: Firefight is an enjoyable, action-packed follow-up to the 2003 original and one of the better DTV titles out there. Rated: 7/10 Mar 23, 2011 Full Review Brian Orndorf BrianOrndorf.com Amusing in the moment, with a merry junk food cinema rhythm, the low-budget follow-up isn't nearly as brawny as the original feature, electing video game stylistics and movie-of-the-week plotting to dream up a new adventure. Space C Major downgrade in comparison to S.W.A.T (2003.) Not worth the watch. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/25 Full Review Randall W Seriously generic shoot-em-up police movie. I only watched it because I was a fan of Gabriel Macht and Carly Pope (Suits) and I wanted to see if Gabriel could portray anyone besides the same overconfident, smooth-talking macho man. Now I'm sure he's a one-trick pony. The entire movie was exactly like Suits, only with guns, right down to Gabriel (Paul) getting the girl. Giancarlo Esposito did not fit in this story. For his acting talent, this movie is far beneath him, and he didn't make sense in this role. There were plot holes galore, implausible scenes and actions that no real police officer would actually do (like not shooting the rich guy pointing a loaded AK at the team, not tackling Rose before she shot herself, and Paul unloading an entire magazine into the dead henchman in the final battle) and predictable plot turns as if they were taken right out of the movie plot handbook. A great example of this is the scene compilation of the rebel officer getting kicked off the team which set up the movie for the entry of a female officer that had basically no reason in the plot for being there, which made the entire exchange feel like plot filler. For being police officers, the entire movie is filled with cowboy BS and zero realism for actual police procedures. Scenes looked like they were hacked up in post-production and the ending was rushed as if the movie ran out of time, money, or both. And given that the entire movie takes place in the most generic locations, what budget the movie did have was clearly not spent on scenery. Generic empty lot, generic bus station, common skyscraper, abandoned apartment complex, generic American residential street, the list goes on. Even the initial Detroit montage was as cheap as could be with B-roll of major Detroit city landmarks. Glad I watched this movie for free because I would have been disappointed to have paid anything at all. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/27/24 Full Review Lady F This movie is sex orientated and rubbish compared with the first S.W.A.T movie (2003), especially when it comes to the introduction of the one female swat member. When Chris Sanchez is introduced she's shown as a female officer wanting to join swat who can handle her own. When Lori Barton is introduced it's eye candy and the rest of the team makes suggestive comments. The writing is pretty meh as well as the overall movie so watching it to pass time or as background noise would suffice. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/26/23 Full Review Vincius S I went to watch the movie without expecting much from it, but it surprised me positively. Taking away the clichés, such as the villain's motivation, the plot is well tied and is far from conventional. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/19/22 Full Review Lamar One of the worst movies I have ever seen. No plot, bad acting. Everything was moving to fast, I had a hard time keeping up with it. Terrible dialogs. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/16/22 Full Review Read all reviews
