That the film proves as affecting as it does is largely due to Knoxville’s understated, terrific performance that makes his character fully sympathetic despite his many flaws. Go to Full Review

The humour can sometimes struggle to keep up with the heartfelt drama, but the pure heart makes this film a sweeping success. You’ve seen it before, but you’ll enjoy it again. Go to Full Review

An unlikely success, featuring a dramatic turn from Johnny Knoxville, more than holding his own in a rare lead dramatic role. Go to Full Review

In 'Sweet Dreams,' Johnny Knoxville's a long way from his 'Jackass' roots, deep in dramatic acting territory, and surprisingly effective. Go to Full Review

Some key monologues detail a character with issues to sort out, and Knoxville steps up to the plate to deliver. A good softball story. Go to Full Review

Cash T Nov 3 Jay Mohr as Frank absolutely owned And embodied the character, inspirational to the point of not realizing it was even him until the credits. See more L L Sep 13 I really enjoyed this movie. It's definitely in the Feelgood category, and some people complain about it being formulaic, but I need formulaic about now! Something with some hope. I enjoyed the recovery aspect, and the dynamic between the men. Also, I thought there was a lot of decent acting in this from people I've never heard of, then that was really fun. These were some intense characters, and they did it well. See more Mar 26 Heartfelt story about struggling with addiction that will hit a soft spot for parents. This movie is not perfect by any means, and I believe the softball spin on it actually holds it back; however, I found myself rooting for and growing attached to each character’s progression. The downside of this film lies in a lot of mediocre and poor acting, unfinished storylines, predictable writing, a dud of an ending, and a lack of chemistry in what should be an amazing cast for a comedy. Johnny Knoxville gives a commendable performance, but most of the funniest scenes are left on the cutting room floor in the credits. It seems like a missed opportunity on most ends, but this was a very enjoyable and emotional film. 7.6 out of 10 See more Myles P 09/12/2024 the best netflix only type movie i've watched. super heartfelt with a touching subject. i might be missing something but where was theo von in the ending scene a grand slam from him would've capped it off perfectly See more Chuck S 05/29/2024 A surprisingly good performance by knoxville. Shows that he isn't exactly a one trick donkey lol. Also feels like this movie cam be relatable to people who have gone through similar struggles/being in a sober home.
