After pilot Breezy McLaughlin (James Craig) accidentally ruins the stage act of Maisie Ravier (Ann Sothern) and Horatio Curley (John Qualen), they take him to court, where he's ordered to give Horatio a job at the Victory Air plant. Horatio then urges Maisie to take a position in a defense plant, which she does. Moving into a boardinghouse, Maisie is saddled with dramatic Iris Reed (Jean Rogers) as a roommate. Soon Iris tests Maisie's dedication to work and her growing affection for Breezy.
