todd m 04/16/2024 Super suspenseful, magnificently acted and perfectly crafted. Holds up. See more don s 11/02/2014 A well acted HBO movie from nearly 30 years ago. The acting is very good. The story is based after the horrible events at the Munich Olympics in '72. Not fully believable - these 5 guys appeared to have it too easy - but the story is intriguing. The movie would have been better by cutting out the last 20 minutes or so, but still, a very good political drama. See more 05/26/2012 An enjoyable film that does raise a few questions, but ultimately comes down to where you stand on the subject of Israel. It's dramatic and it has it's moments of good dialogue and emotions. See more 07/31/2011 Poor production values and the 2.5 hour running time notwithstanding, 'Sword of Gideon' is still a much better movie than Spielberg's 'Munich'... No doubt it's a tough ask to present a neutral view on events such as the Munich massacre and the extrajudicial retribution that followed but this movie manages do just that... and that makes it a movie worth watching! See more 06/21/2011 This is the original version of what Steven Spielberg later remade as 'Munich'. This film is all around better than Spielberg's, despite a smaller budget and poorer production values, it avoids turning itself into an action/adventure film and instead deals with the characters and avoids excessive gratuitous violence, unlike Spielberg's. Thats not to say Spielberg's remake wasn't good, I just think this was better.
