When the terror proves to be all too real, Sophie and her crew fight back in the face of alt-right rallies and despair, and T Blockers forces us to question our ability to recognize monsters and oppressive regimes alike. Go to Full Review

The character dynamics are low-key and honest in a way we rarely get in trans cinema of any genre. Go to Full Review

With a predominantly queer, nonbinary, and trans cast and crew, and central characters it’s easy to love, T Blockers is a real treat for queer horror fans Go to Full Review
Mattie Lucas trans|cendental cinema Feb 4
That the protagonist is herself a transgender filmmaker reveals how personal this film is for Mackay, essentially a self-insert in which she and her friends use their queerness and their art to combat ignorance and hate. Go to Full Review

Amelie M Mar 9 This was really awful. The story line was all over the place and the acting was so bad. I think it's great that this came from a 19 year old, which is an amazing achievement. It was just not watchable. See more James W 11/24/2024 This was written and directed by a 19-year-old, so on that level it's a hell of an achievement. There are some decent sequences, it made me laugh a couple of times and she gets great performances out of most of the cast. Unfortunately, the script is a mess. The pacing is way off (the film is half over before our heroine even discovers her town has been infested with mind-robbing parasites) and the alternating between low-energy slice-of-life comedy and camp B-movie doesn't really work. It name-drops John Waters but doesn't have his kind of punky, deranged energy, which isn't a criticism in of itself, but a drop of that might have carried the low-budget monster movie shenanigans a bit. Technically it's all over the place too; some scenes look great, while others are so underlit they're practically indecipherable, and the audio mixing for the dialogue is awful but there are some great tunes on the soundtrack. The gushing professional reviews are baffling, but this is still impressive from such a young writer/director, and she obviously has talent. Give her 5-10 years and we could get something really special from her. See more Dutch C 04/30/2024 Amazing film. Saw it at a local Boston queer film festival. See more The Fan A 04/30/2024 An absolute delight. Walked away from this feeling the joy I felt after seeing John Waters for the first time. See more Dogon B 04/24/2024 Scary, brilliant film! Looks like a bunch of right wing Neo-Nazis are trying to downgrade this awesome movie. See more prawnda s 03/11/2024 sometimes, cute and stupid *are* enough. anyways, it's a decent film in some ways, but it kind of feels like this extended silent/ambient sequence near the climax was just a way to cover for them running out of script. it would be a pretty good watch if they finished it :/ See more Read all reviews
