Nell Minow AWFJ.org I'd like Ms. Kron to follow this film with a whole series on a wide variety of topics, inviting the sharpest and funniest female comics to comment on many more aspects of modern life. Nov 4, 2021 Full Review Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times Though the film's running time could have used a little nip-tuck, "Nose" offers a candid look at the lengths and risks a host of funny ladies past and present have taken to make peace with their punims. Oct 12, 2017 Full Review Sheri Linden The Hollywood Reporter Kron calls out Hollywood on its double standard. Yet like many of her subjects, she sees that there's no fighting it; as standup comedian Julie Halston puts it, "Beauty's still the thing that people want most from women." Oct 8, 2017 Full Review Jennifer Merin AWFJ.org A lot of information and insight is delivered, punctuated by lots of laughs. Well done, Joan Kron, whose career as a documentary filmmaker begins at age 89. Nov 4, 2021 Full Review MaryAnn Johanson AWFJ.org [It] busts taboos with glee. But it's rather depressing, too, in how it highlights how inescapable the social pressure to look a certain way is even when you're aware of how ridiculous it all is. Nov 4, 2021 Full Review Nikki Baughan AWFJ.org Funny, measured and insightful, Joan Kron's hugely entertaining documentary takes a frank and unbiased look at the issue of plastic surgery. Audience Member In full disclosure, I am one of the plastic surgeons in the film who comments on the effect of childhood trauma on body image and the drive to plastic surgery. Except for a few clips, however, I had nothing else to do with the movie. Joan Kron has done something unique in this film, and that is to go behind the surface motivations and technical aspects of plastic surgery and start to uncover what the sense of deformity really means to people. It is a sensitive and accurate look at the human side of plastic surgery, until now almost totally missed in the media. Like any real story about real people it is poignant, moving, and funny. If you want to get a look at what plastic surgery really is and does for patients, this documentary is your way in.
