Synopsis
During the Iran-Iraq War, a group of itinerant Kurdish teachers journey through the mountains and villages along the border with blackboards strapped to their backs, looking for pupils. Along the way, Said (Said Mohamadi) guides a group of lost elderly men back to their village, where he meets and falls for Halaleh (Behnaz Jafari), a young widow with a son. Meanwhile, Reeboir (Bahman Ghobadi), another traveling teacher, tries to persuade a group of adolescent smugglers to learn to read.
