Audience Member One of the few films that captures the essence of being a classical musician. Paul Katz introduces us to his own teachers, some who themselves studied with Casals and he tells them what he felt they taught him-and they respond with what they intended to transmit!. Katz's current students take a masterclass with one of Katz's former students and witness a completely different variation from Katz's own approach. We follow four of these current students as they struggle with issues of identity, worth, and honesty, as they develop their own connections with the classical tradition of their mentors. This film does not gloss over the difficulties, but it reveals rewards that are beyond any surface of celebrity or accolades. This film captures the real deal.
