      Tales of Beatrix Potter

      G 1971 1h 30m Kids & Family Musical List
Reviews 86% Audience Score 1,000+ Ratings This live-action film adapts the animal stories of Beatrix Potter into a full-fledged ballet performance danced by various stars of the Royal Ballet. The narrative begins with a young Potter (Erin Geraghty) hard at work on her writing when, suddenly, her creations come dancing to life. Mice, ducks, frogs and squirrels all figure into Potter's colorful menagerie, and the performers render each with a kind of freewheeling authenticity that separates the piece from typical ballet fare. Audience Member In Sweden they used to show this film on tv when I was a child. I think it was around Christmas time. And yezzz, I just loved it!! I haven't seen the film as an adult, so my rating may be influenced by my childhood memory of it :) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member De goe gamle seriene fra barne-tv tiå Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Tales of Beatrix Potter is one of British cinema's true one-offs, a film quite unlike any other. Ostensibly aimed at children, this adaptation of Potter's various animal-centric stories was mounted by the Royal Ballet. Kids though will have to read up on the "Complete Tales" or they will have trouble figuring out what's going on. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Sweeping ballet beautifully choreographed and shot. The Pigling Bland section goes on a little long, but that's a minor nitpick for a great, underrated film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Beautiful choreography, costumes, sets, editing, etc. A testament to Ms. Potter's legacy. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Just love the music! Seeing this film at the cinema when it first came out was amazing - and I remember seeing all the costumes on display at Harrods! 35+ years later... it's still a magical adaptation of all those Beatrix Potter tales.
