George Campbell Dixon Daily Telegraph (UK) [The Tall Men] is not as good as it should be, but will do till a better Western comes along. The male stars are all at home in oats opera. Sep 14, 2022 Full Review Guardian Staff Guardian The Tall Men is a great big Cinemascopic Western, excellent in its way and helped by Clark Gable and Robert Ryan. Sep 14, 2022 Full Review Walter Goodman New York Times ... a mighty mild movie. Jan 9, 2018 Full Review Yasser Medina Cinefilia It captures colorful panoramas in CinemaScope, but somehow its western lacks epicity and traverses fairly regular terrain. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 6/10 Oct 3, 2021 Full Review Clyde Gilmour Maclean's Magazine A long, loud and very corny big-budget western in which Clark Gable and Jane Russell growl love at each other... Steve D Entertaining because of Gable. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Cattle drive up to Montana with Clark Gable at his most rugged, kid brother Cameron Mitchell who cant stay out of trouble, Robert Ryan as the money man all three of whom are in the grey area of honest/outlaw with a really good Jane Russell who is rough, tough, and hot. A few twists and turns but it's the cast that pulls this out of the ordinary. Gable in this movie is what so many actors try for and fail, believably tough. If you like this type of of movie, you will like this. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Like an epic companion to John Ford's The Searchers, but with action, and great visuals. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review lanfranco c Cow Boys, Rancheros and a Girl ! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member This move is underrated in my opinion. It has a great story line, a lot of intense action, beautiful scenery and some very wild dangerous scenes. One of my all time favorites, if you like westerns and have not seen this one, please check it out. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Raoul Walsh directed this lavish but dull cattle drive western tale. Clark Gable and his brother sign on to help Robert Ryan with is cattle drive and face all manner of adversities. Jane Russell plays the love interest. The film has some nice photography and a pretty large scale, but the story is deathly boring. Walsh typically directs tight and efficient action tales, so I'm not sure what went wrong here.
