Clyde Gilmour Maclean's Magazine A beaming ex-lifeguard named Gordon Scott makes a likeable but implausible debut as apeman No. 1 1 in a series that has prospered without interruption since 1918. Oct 21, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Featuring costumes recycled from TARZAN'S SAVAGE FURY and a heavily padded and predictable script that wastes Jack Elam and Very Miles, Gordon Scott's debut as Tarzan is more notable for its background than the film itself. Miles and Scott would marry during the shoot, then move to Europe. Scott would star in several sword and sandal films, while Miles would turn down the female lead in VERTIGO and other Hitchcock films. SAVAGE FURY played like a comeback, while this follow up ranks with PERIL as among the franchise's worst entries. For completists only. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member I was actually unaware that there were more Tarzan films after Johnny Weissmuller got too old and left to star in the Jungle Jim films instead (where he got to wear more clothes). Gordon Scott was apparently the third actor to take on the Tarzan role and does okay enough I suppose, although the story about an evil hunter who wants to slaughter all the wildlife is pretty dull. However, the film is helped by the presence of Vera Miles in an early role as the love interest and Jack Elam plays the evil hunter. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
