Filmed on stage at the Royal Opera House in London, this beautiful tribute to legendary prima ballerina Margot Fonteyn compiles segments from a trio of productions by the Royal Ballet Company. Dancing alongside partner Michael Somes in all three performances, Fonteyn is featured in some of the most beloved classical ballets of our time, including Pyotr Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake," Igor Stravinsky's "The Firebird," and Hans Werner Henze's "Ondine."

Audience Member I'm imagining this is good, but, really I'm dropping a note here to send you to "The Margot Fonteyn Story" (1989) which is TV documentary* about the elegant Margot Fonteyn, waxing poetically about not just her life as a dancer, but about her time being thrown into jail because her husband (Roberto Arias) was involved in a coup in Panama. Her husband was eventually paralyzed due to an attempted assassination due to his politics, and there are very awkward (yet truthful) moments where you get a glimpse at Fonteyn caring for her mostly immobile, once powerful, husband. *I found "The Margot Fonteyn Story" (1989) as "Margot Fonteyn, documentary" on Youtube Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
