A female taxi driver (Mania Akbari) ferries 10 different passengers around Tehran, Iran -- exposing herself to a wide swathe of the city's populace and shedding light on the plight of women in the country. Among those who set foot inside her cab are a prostitute and an elderly woman on her way to prayer. But there are also a multitude of familiar faces, including a friend who's broken up with her boyfriend and the driver's own son, who lashes out at his mother over divorcing his father.

Empire Magazine Rated: 5/5 Dec 30, 2006 Full Review Wesley Morris Boston Globe A major minimalist departure for Kiarostami. Rated: 4/4 Jul 10, 2003 Full Review Peter Howell Toronto Star A very interesting film, despite structural limitations that keep it from approaching greatness. Rated: 3/5 May 9, 2003 Full Review David Walsh World Socialist Web Site The film is not "disappointing" only because one has been expecting Kiarostami to encounter this sort of difficulty, based on the trajectory of his most recent work. Audience Member Probably interesting to see contemporary Iran at the time it is as made but hasn't aged well. Just a boring set of car journeys with neurotic women. The child adds the most colour and acts superbly. Felt like a wasted 90 minutes, I felt no depth or purpose in the film. Main actress is beautiful. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review chris k 'Ten' is a minimalist film full of realism that far exceeds other similar films. It approaches Iranian society in a rather unconventional way, lacking however some elements that would make it engaging for the viewer. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Discussions on feminism? I definitely prefer Panahi's Taxi. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review dustin d 10 has some powerful performances, particularly from the young Amin Maher. It occasionally offers insight on gender roles and religiosity in Iran (although nothing that hasn't been said before). However, I can't shake the feeling this is a movie anyone could make. Anyone can mount a couple consumer-grade cameras on the dashboard of a car, have their actors drive around without a script or director, then edit the footage down into 10 unconnected (and somewhat repetitive) segments and call it a movie. It may have been a bold approach, but it is ultimately a let-down. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This seemingly random collection of vignettes is so formally fascinating and flawlessly performed, I thought it was a strict documentary. But as he's proven before in Close-Up, Kiarostami has no problem walking all over the line between fiction and documentary. Those vignettes together present an emotionally complete arch. By giving us such a specific viewpoint of a modern Iranian woman navigating (literally and figuratively) through life, it actually becomes a relatable parable of human connection. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member I realized its agenda attached & the constraints for making films in Iran. But this was just way too improvising. And my ears hurt...
