Grant Watson Fiction Machine It is a showcase for genre stalwart Randolph Scott, but in a year with 71 separate westerns competing for attention it ultimately forms part of the furniture. Nick F Veteran Western star Randolph is usually at his best as a leathery high-minded gunfighter in many of his films, but in Ten Wanted Men (1955) he plays a well-dressed gentleman rancher living peacefully in his small community. But that situation soon changes as his bullying neighbour (the scowling Richard Boone) starts land grabbing and cattle rustling, aided by a band of hired gunman. Boone also frames Scott’s nephew for a murder, and with the town sheriff and most of the community in fear of Boone’s band of thugs, Scott has to revert to his usual role as a tough and relentless avenger. The strong cast, which includes Leo Gordon, Skip Homeier and Lee Van Cleef, are on good form but the storyline is fairly standard and director H. Bruce Humberstone needed a sharper touch to get the best from it. Even though it is not one of Randolph Scott’s best films, Ten Wanted Men is still a worthwhile watch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member wow umn just seen this movie 4 the 1st time n think that this is a good movie 2 watch,.....its got a good cast of actors/actressess throughout this movie...i think that richard boone, randolph scott, minor watson, jocelyn brando, leo gordon, lester matthews, clam beavens, donna martell, alfonso bedoya play good roles/parts throughout this movie....i think that the director of this western/drama/action/adventure/classics movie had done a good job of directing this movie because you never know what 2 expect throughout this movie...this is a good western movie 2 watch n its enjoyable movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Even with Randolph Scott, this is pretty much a western off the studio production line, rather generic in all aspects of this genre. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member The older i get the more i appreciate the Randolph Scott westerns and whilst this is by no means his best effort, there is still plenty to enjoy - most notably heavy handed thugs like Leo Gordon and Lee Van Cleef. The gun-play and fights are on the poor side, but its still a nice brief western for a Sunday afternoon. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
