Tricia M Though a “ Propaganda” movie some of the underlying messages have definitely broken through to the 21st Century. Manya’s speech on the death of democracy, I am sure at the time written, was never thought to be a warning to future generations. It’s time to take off the Rose colored glasses and see this movie for the next generation messages it hides. This movie is an ode to lily white America; simple-minded cultural norms of American romance and family life during WWII. The dialogue, scene structure and direction are strictly "home-front" propaganda. But man, Ginger Rodgers was hot!!
