Audience Member Absolutely outstanding western here very good highly recommend it James Welch, Henderson, Arkansas, July 26, 2023 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/25/23 Full Review Audience Member This film had the hallmark of a studio B picture, the kind produced by the bushel in the 1950s. Richard Egan never became a huge star but he had a fine career and here he was the strong, soft-spoken man with a past he is running from. This film has much going for it, rising above the typical Western output of the loner who helps a man and a town stand up to bullying cattlemen. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Strong b-movie western, although it does borrow from other films for its story and finale. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member A boring western that ends in a unrelated shoot out in the end. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member This superb '50s western is what I term a "minor masterpiece". By that I do not mean that it is inferior, rather that its "B" status will inevitably always relegate it to side discussions when the "big" westerns are brought up. But a very convincing argument can be made that this, and many other '50s "B" westerns-including almost all of the Audie Murphy ones-are the absolute pinnacle of the genre--This is a movie with a solid script, really a very good cast, and a decent script. It is a later RKO production completed in a short time before Lucy & Desi bought the studio. It is one of a handful of films of this type shot in color during the 1950's... Mama don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys!! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Enjoyable if low-key western with a wooden Richard Egan as the villified anti-hero Wes Tancred - what a great name! Ultimately coming to the aid of the local sheriff and achieving redemption of sorts. Great support from many familiar western faces and a sexy female lead in Malone (it's all in the eyes!).
