Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times It's the kind of movie that can almost be reviewed by watching the trailer, if not the TV commercials. Rated: 1/4 Oct 23, 2004 Full Review Dave Kehr Chicago Reader A lurid exploitation subject turned into a crafty feminist allegory... Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Elissa Suh Moviepudding Rothman manages to inject the film with a keen sense of feminist ideals and ultimately envisions a universe free from the reign of patriarchy. delysid d The only thing worse than being on Terminal Island is watching Terminal Island Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/30/18 Full Review Audience Member A truly awful movie, in too many ways to mention. Laughable in plot and acting and direction. But it does have a hot and hunky cast including one Mr Tom Selleck. If you need a good laugh, check this one out. Otherwise, skip it. I saw it on TCM, and why TCM aired it is beyond me, other than for Mr Selleck. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member It was much butter than I hoped. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Hardcore 70's film where two groups of convicts battle on an island where murderers are dumped by the state of California. Laughable ending where Tom Selleck refuses a retrial to stay on the seemingly utopian island the winning group forms. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Terminal Island is exploitation queen Stephanie Rothman's masterpiece of life on an island that holds death row inmates, because the death sentence has been abolished. Prime sleaze with a handful of bad actors, ridiculously funny dialogue, and some very sexy 70's ladies. Not to mention a coke snorting Tom Selleck and loads of primal violence, this film has it all. I'm sure a lot of this was an influence for The Running Man, Gamer, and Battle Royale.
