Audience Member Folks- the dark humor of early Onur Tukel is still there but this guy is getting masterful. Watch out- he is growing in ways that will be unveiled. People need to pay attention to this directors work past and future. All the actors are strong - Alan Ceppos gives a particularly powerful performance. Score by Michael Montes keeps the ride going. Camera work/ use of BW/Color smart. A must see because it is a strong exploring artists body of work- doesn't happen as much as it should in the film medium. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member I love this movie and the whole cast! Bravo Onur Tukel! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Theta-waves from internet boxes. That's what's causing all this madness. Leonard has already lost his girlfriend, despite them still living together and her attacking him with a knife. But as he spirals downward in his job — nobody has a single nice thing to say about his abilities as a chef — he starts to hallucinate. Is he going crazy from the stress? Or are those theta-waves real? Meanwhile, Leonard's girlfriend's father has been clogging the toilet and unleashing a steady stream of naked male models on the apartment, all while people start becoming theta-driven killers. Directed and written by Onur Tukel and in black and white and all confusing, this certainly won't be for everyone. I watched it once and it left me cold, so I watched it again a few days later, and I got the same feeling. But hey — movies are for everyone, so perhaps you'll discover something better than I did. Mark Hanson Slant Magazine Despite its overarching gloominess, That Cold Dead Look in Your Eyes still retains Onur Tukel's flair for brazen comedy. Rated: 3/4 Jan 2, 2022 Full Review Cody Corrall Chicago Reader By the time the hallucinatory mystery reaches a climax, it's far too late to establish any semblance of emotional resonance. Nov 24, 2021 Full Review Alejandro Turdo Hoy Sale Cine The script handles a weird sense of humor. There's a lot of dark comedy bits surrounding this man about to reach its breaking point. TDCLYE is one part artsy movie, one part drama and one part unresolved build up in my opinion. Rated: 7/10 Dec 18, 2021 Full Review Bradley Gibson Film Threat InThat Cold Dead Look in Your Eyes, Turkel has taken a fairly pedestrian New York story about a man who has lost control of his situation and transformed it into a French avant-garde objet d'art. Rated: 7/10 Dec 14, 2021 Full Review Evan Dossey Midwest Film Journal Gripping and well-made psychological thriller that asks you to feel it, rather than make sense of it. Dec 10, 2021 Full Review Bill Arceneaux Moviegoing with Bill Black, white, and French all over, this movie is great. Effing great. Bizarre but not so absurd, it's a story that folds in on itself before opening back up again with a new perspective and a fresh beginning. Rated: 5/5 Dec 3, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews
