Audience Member Controversial documentary depicting the tragic true story of the Uyghur people at the hands of the Chinese government through the eyes of the embattled and estranged Rebiya Kadeer. You will laugh at her frank nature, and you will be humbled be her unimaginable sacrifice. Certainly the filmmakers could have tried harder to be more even handed about their depiction of China, instead only ever showing military personal to represent them, however I suspect that this is the reality faced by the people of East Turkestan. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Regardless of the fact that this is an impressive film, with an amazing story of a heroic individual and stunning cinematography, I was proud to simply be able to watch it, then have a free and open conversation with director Jeff Daniels about the issues. For those who don't know, this is the film that the Chinese Government tried to ban from being shown in Australia. The irony of course, is that their efforts led to probably tens of thousands more people seeing it than they ever would have. Rebiya Kadeer is a heroic lady, and her story is one that more people around the world need to hear. Go see this film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews
