Audience Member Very poignant and touching movie. Spanned the bridge between fact and fiction very well and Raquela Rios did an excellent job as herself. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Initially, it seems like this film addresses some trans gender issues, but then the central character of this docu-drama comes across as a stuck up bitch. Not the story's fault, since it is based on actual events, but after the first half hour it goes downhill as a "Meh" documentary. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Is it fun for a one time fling? Yes. Do I wish to see it again? No. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member As a documentary, I don't think this was really anything special, however, the story is worth knowing. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Very funny. I loved the part when she names him an asshole =P. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Sympaattinen dokumentti (??) filippiinilaisen ladyboyn tiesta islantilaisen kalatehtaan kautta Pariisiin ja takaisin. Noel Murray AV Club A kind of postmodern, grown-up fairytale: a Cinderella story for the reality-TV age. Rated: B Sep 26, 2008 Full Review Kevin Thomas Los Angeles Times Raquela Rios is so passionately alive her film gets away with an open ending -- as it has everything else. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 26, 2008 Full Review Tim Cogshell Boxoffice Magazine It's funny, wry, edgy and occasionally insightful -- but it's not a documentary. Rated: 3/5 Sep 26, 2008 Full Review David Noh Film Journal International That hyperbolic title refers to Raquela's transsexual status, but otherwise, there's nothing all that amazing about this very specialized-interest, sometimes engaging but often frustrating faux-documentary. Rated: C Oct 13, 2008 Full Review Maitland McDonagh TV Guide Rios is the glue that holds Johannesson's neither-fish-nor-fowl film together: Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 26, 2008 Full Review Ernest Hardy L.A. Weekly The amazing truth about Queen Raquela is that she's constructed from clichs. Sep 26, 2008 Full Review Read all reviews
