It is slow at some parts and the story is basic but it is perfectly fine for what it is! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/29/15 Full Review Audience Member This is a made for TV movie that stole the plot from Jaws. Most of the story is just a soap opera about a small town whose main industry is fishing. The fishermen are attacked by a giant squid protecting her young. The problem is that real giant squid never come to the surface and live in the deep oceans. No human has ever seen a living giant squid. They are the main food supply for the sperm whale and a few dead ones have floated to the surface or have been caught in fishing nets. Only recently the Japanese managed to get a TV camera deep enough to film a living giant squid. The special effects for the squid in this movie are really bad. Disney did a better job in 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. The soap opera story is lame. It's about a dying town with corrupt politicians. The hero has to battle the corruption to save the squid but in the end has to kill it to save his friends and family.
