Antoine (Fabrice Luchini) is a modestly successful author who has just been left by his girlfriend, so he decides on a scheme to rebound from his heartache and write a new book all at once. The crux of his plan is to pick a girl at random, seduce her, leave her and then write a book about the whole experience. He settles on Catherine (Judith Henry), a reserved secretary who is won over by Antoine's way with words, but the plan doesn't exactly pan out.
