brad p Strange no-budget affair Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Had a fun harsh premise but ended up being slow and bleak. A few good moments, but the rest end up dragging on with lackluster action and few chills. I Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Mill Creek's 50 Movie Pack: Chilling Classics Reviews Bill Rebane's THE GAME/ THE COLD [1984]: An odd horror comedy from infamous Wisconsin cult movie producer & director Bill Rebane that sees three multi-millionaires play a game on a group of invited guests. Using a lodge that is supposedly haunted, the group soon become more than the victims of tacky pranks by the eccentric millionaires. When people start to disappear from the group, it soon becomes clear that something sinister is a foot. Thoughts: Another one of Rebane's enjoyable efforts, starting off with cheap but nifty opening credits using various board games, decent acting and whatever else makes a movie good. However with questionable close ups of women's breast during a dance scene & the constraints of a limited budget do hinder this film to a large degree. On a personal note I loved Rebane's in-joke when a character is viewing a late night TV movie show where the host introduces his "favourite" THE GIANT SPIDER INVASION [1975]. My rating for this film is a solid 60% for this Rebane feature. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member This is another selection from the Mill Creek 50 Movie Pack of Chilling Classics. Little did I know it was also another film directed by Bill Rebane. From what I have seen of Bill Rebane movies their all pretty cheap and basic and this is no exception, This movie has the USA name of the cold, why I am not sure, its know on the International market as The Game and that is a better name for what the movie is about. A trio of old folks gather a group of people to remain in a house until only one is left for a million dollars and this is all for their entertainment. But something goes wrong as people are disappearing. The movies main star is Carol Perry, you say who? That's right any movie that bills an unknown is what it is. A 2 Star Movie. But it is a rare fine or is it hard to find because no one think its worth the print? Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Dismal dismal film of three millionaires gathering nine participants to see who can outlast in a game of fear for a prize of $1 million. Director Rebane amazingly contributed 3 films to Mill Creek's 50 Chilling Classics collection, a dubious feat. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Deeply weird and proud of it. This is the kind of obscure gem that reminds me why I've spent so much time digging through dusty old VHS bins. Thank you Bill Rebane. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Read all reviews
