Audience Member A solid, lightly humorous, well acted film from modest means that manages to touch on high school issues like bullying, dating boundaries, out-of-control school rivalries and the need for mutual respect. It holds its own, with a depth and sincerity that is unusual for a teen dramedy - even tho it's almost 20 yrs old. I thot it a decent pic when I saw it originally in 1996, and it's a welcome bright light in the otherwise glut of poorly acted, cheesy Christian message movies that came out in the 80s and 90s. To be honest, it deals with contemporary issues of the 90s, but doesn't add much new or revelatory to the high school conflicts except to highlight that a person of faith and wise humility can bring profound influence to many of those conflicts. And can even bring healing. 3.5 varsity jackets out of 5 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews
