dave j Retribution movie starring Lizzy Caplan as Juliette Flowers with abuser Reverend Early Pride (Dwight Yoakam) on a pursuing rant. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Elisa wants to see lord help me and my son lewis Grimes! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member this movie was the bigest let down of all times. I really wanted to see it because I heard Peter Dinklage, Kris Kristofferson, and Scott Speedman were playing in it but it turn out to be the biggest waste of time and the $0.50 I paid to rent it. If you want to see this movie, do yourself a favor and don't. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Lizzy Caplan raises my body temperature...my gut tells me shes better than Asia Argento (for whom she could be mistaken except for the slightly asymmetrical face and endearing nose skew that Asia has). The film itself is so over-the-top with psuedo-tough, faux-feminist whip*ss that its fun to watch--- unless the ghost of Betty Freidan is on the sofa, braless and eating Doritos... then youve got other problems. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member It didn't take me very long to realize that I wasn't going to enjoy The Last Rites of Ransom Pride. Ten minutes, at most. The whole vibe of the movie just turns me off. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Juliette Flowers (Lizzy Caplan) is a tough as nails gunslinger with a very dark past, she's on her way to Mexico to recover the body of her lover Ransom Pride (Scott Speedman) and bury him next to his mother. Along the way she meets opposition from her lover's bible thumping drunkard father Rev. Pride (Dwight Yokam) and a mysterious gypsy/witch woman (Cote de Pablo) from Mexico with a vendetta. This movie is filled to the brim with edgy fast paced montages from both the past and quick glimpses of the future, the overall style the movie seems to be trying to accomplish is an edgy and modern western but came off as pretentious. This is without a doubt the most bizarre western I have ever seen. With unusual characters from start to finish that all seem to wax poetic with some kind of western proverb, this is a dark and bizarre romanticized version of the wild west that's like Wyatt Earp meets Alice in Wonderland. Overall the plot fell flat and the style of the film comes across as a jumbled up mess, but I found myself liking this one for reasons I can't explain.
